Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role is to represent the organization in labor-management relations, ensuring effective interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements.

This position requires a strong understanding of federal and local laws applicable to employment and labor relations. The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting adversarial proceedings, planning independent legal research, and drafting documents in various software applications.

As a key member of the management team, the Associate General Counsel, Labor will serve as a representative in meetings with union officials, negotiate labor contracts, and provide expert advice to supervisors and other management officials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent the organization in labor-management relations.
  • Interpret collective bargaining agreements and advise on labor matters.
  • Provide guidance on dispute resolution and employee discipline.
  • Conduct and manage adversarial proceedings on behalf of the organization.
  • Negotiate labor contracts and provide expert advice to supervisors and other management officials.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • At least five years of post-J.D. legal experience, including three years of substantial labor relations experience.
  • Strong academic record and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the District of Columbia Bar.
