Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at SBM Offshore. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of our vessel's engine room and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engine Room Operations
    • Prepare and start-up engine room plant and systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
    • Monitor and control engine room plant and systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
    • Prepare and shutdown engine room plant and systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
    • Isolate and reinstate engine room plant for maintenance, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.
  2. Leadership and Supervision
    • Establish effective relationships with colleagues and subordinates.
    • Plan and control the use of resources effectively.
    • Use communication skills to demonstrate leadership.
    • Assess subordinates using a competence assessment system.
    • Make recommendations for improvements in working practices and techniques.
  3. Critical Situations and Emergencies
    • Identify and log critical situations for later analysis.
    • Take positive action to limit escalation and maintain control.
    • Alert external agencies as necessary.
  4. Pollution Control Measures
    • Sample and check controlled discharges from the area of responsibility.
    • Identify and halt unplanned discharges where possible.
    • Deal with equipment, waste, and materials for disposal according to procedure.
  5. Emergency Response
    • Perform emergency response role.
    • Show competence during drills and exercises.
Requirements
  • STCW III/2 2nd Engineer Officer certificate or national equivalent.
  • At least 2 years' experience as 1st Engineer on steam or motor vessels.
  • Fuel gas boiler firing experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience in Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Medically fit with offshore international standards.

  • Appropriate standard of technical, legal, and professional knowledge.

IT:

  • Good familiarity with computerized maintenance recording systems.
  • Practical familiarity with standard 'Office' software package.
  • Operation and use of Internet and electronic mail system.
