Senior Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our team and help shape the future of education technology.

As a key member of our engineering team, you will lead multi-discipline engineers in developing innovative solutions for our Live Learning Platform, Learning Lab, and StarCourses. Your expertise will inform and grow our engineering culture, driving excellence and quality across the organization.

We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented leader who can:

  • Drive delivery, performance, and quality through effective leadership and technical guidance.
  • Inform and grow Nerdy engineering culture, furthering our drive to be the best place to work as a technologist.
  • Collaborate with product partners, business operations, and data science partners to operate and innovate our technology platform.
  • Provide direction and oversight on technical architectures and systems design.
  • Manage engineering staff's daily activities, championing objectives, monitoring progress, and removing blockers.
  • Continually improve and optimize teams' performance, both human and system-based.
  • Inspire, mentor, and advocate for engineers to reach their full potential.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A proven track record in Engineering, with 5+ years of successful leadership experience.
  • At-scale technical architecture expertise, including designing and building complex yet performant systems.
  • Strong AWS experience, including optimizing performance, security audits, and cost awareness.
  • Experience managing I.T. teams, including access requests, technical support, and hardware management.
  • Industry experience with security and vulnerability of cloud infrastructure prevention, detection, and remediation.
  • A strong desire to learn and passion for educational technology.

Nice to Have:

We're open to candidates with:

  • GCP experience.
  • Agile development (Scrum or Kanban) skills.
  • Compliance and audit experience, including SOC2, GDPR, FERPA, CCPA, HIPAA.
