Community Engagement Specialist

This role will support the planning and management of community engagement events, including outreach activities, networking events, and community board meetings. The specialist will provide assistance to Howard University Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Program – Community Engagement Core (CEC) by promoting awareness of health disparities, assisting in data collection for RCMI- CEC projects, and building relationships with community-based equity advocates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a regular presence in the community through attendance at community events and partnerships with local organizations to facilitate access to health-related information, resources, and services.
  • Assist in planning and implementing activities to engage community organizations in research activities.
  • Collect and organize data for program evaluation.
  • Attend meetings with community partners to increase awareness of local activities and promote collaborations.
  • Provide periodic public presentations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required; exceptions may be granted with qualified candidates.
  • Two years of experience working with the public in a health or social service-related field.
