Tax Compliance Specialist

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for preparing annual reports and business licenses for various states and localities. Your expertise in property tax compliance will encompass preparing returns, reviewing assessments, and filing protests on property valuations.
This position demands a thorough understanding of transaction taxes, including Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax. You will manage all aspects of these taxes, ensuring accurate preparation and timely submission.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing annual reports and business licenses for multiple jurisdictions.
- Overseeing property tax compliance, encompassing return preparation, assessment review, and protest filings.
- Preparation of tax returns, focusing on accuracy and timeliness.
- Monthly account reconciliations for all transaction tax accounts, including Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax returns.
- Data requests and returns for Sales & Use Tax, requiring thorough review and reconciliation.
- Initiating tax payment requests for transaction taxes, ensuring proper coding.
- Budget preparation related to transaction taxes, aligning with organizational goals.
- Responding to tax authority inquiries regarding transaction taxes.
- Maintaining an up-to-date transaction tax calendar.
- Assisting with IDR requests for transaction tax audits.
- Supporting income and franchise tax workpaper preparation as needed.
- Conducting research on transaction tax issues as they arise.
To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of experience in a tax department and/or public accounting.
- Experience with transaction tax, specifically Sales & Use Tax and Property Tax.
- A working knowledge of income and franchise tax is desirable.
- Familiarity with researching issues related to tax return preparation.
- A strong commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.
- Proficiency with Vertex, Oracle, and OneSource tax compliance software is advantageous.
