Our organization is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer II to join our team of professionals.

The primary function of this role involves performing engineering design reviews and analysis assignments, which may include significant projects or multiple smaller, less complex tasks that require the application of conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering or science.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed engineering reviews of plans to ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and contract commitments.
  • Provide technical guidance to field operations and other technical offices.
  • Perform work involving conventional engineering practices, including moderately complex problems such as resolving conflicting design requirements, material standards, or coordinating activities among disciplines.
  • Develop and propose new approaches to problems encountered and recommend changes in methods, procedures, or designs.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, responses to letters, faxes, and other forms of communication.
  • Interact with clients to identify and resolve problems related to technical expertise.
  • Communicate the status of current workload to team members to ensure client needs are met.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Master's or Ph.D. graduates with no experience may be hired as Engineer II if degrees are specific to the position.
  • Five years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or classification society, or two years as Engineer I.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply fundamental classification and quality concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good command of the English language with the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
