Job Overview

The Software Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership position within our organization. We seek an experienced engineering manager to spearhead the revitalization of this strategic project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and lead a team of engineers in your region
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Demonstrate sound engineering principles and directly contribute toward your team's objectives
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders
  • Lead modern, agile software development practices
  • Ensure a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with our company values
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and engage with other teams at Canonical, as well as the open source community and commercial partners

Essential Qualifications And Experience

  • You have a track record of successfully mentoring, developing, and growing people
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development
  • Committed to success and the delivery of timely, high-quality software
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field
  • Software development experience in Python or Golang
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical experience with Linux system administration
