Job Description

**Role Summary**:

We are seeking a highly skilled Trade Policy Specialist to join our team in Brasilia, Brazil. As a key member of the Brazil Network, you will play a critical role in driving the delivery of priority trade policy workstreams and leading strategy and engagement for the UK's highest-priority market access barriers in Brazil.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead priority trade policy workstreams for the Network, coordinating work across the Brazil Network and working closely with colleagues in London to drive forward objectives and ensure effective and timely delivery of results.
  • Develop and deliver the market access strategy for the Brazil Network, setting strategic direction and supporting sector team leads to resolve market access barriers (MABs) within their sector.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement on areas within your portfolio, developing and delivering engagement to build excellent relationships across the Brazilian government, regulators, Congress, and the business community.
  • Deliver insightful and regular analysis of Brazil's trade policy to spot emerging opportunities or barriers that have the potential to impact delivery of UK priorities in the short or long term and offer guidance on how the UK should respond.
  • Support preparation for the annual Joint Economic and Trade Committee meeting between UK and Brazilian trade ministers, working closely with the Head of Trade and Economic Policy and DBT teams in São Paulo.
  • Ensure incoming high-level HMG visitors have impactful meetings on trade policy issues as part of their visit agenda.
  • Manage the trade and economic policy intern, setting strategic direction, helping to maintain high-quality work, and driving a focus on L&D and wellbeing.

**Requirements:**

  • Strong understanding of trade policy and market access issues in Brazil.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the Brazilian government, regulators, Congress, and the business community.
