The Director of Patient Access oversees the day-to-day operations of the Access Center, ensuring that all staff members are equipped to provide exceptional service to our patients. The Access Center Supervisor serves as a liaison between our on-site Howard employed staff and Emerging Global Services Inc. staff. This key position ensures that full registration protocols are followed, providing a seamless experience for our patients.

Duties:

  • Lead morning huddles to set priorities and discuss ongoing projects
  • Escalate scheduling or clinical concerns during the FPP ops huddle to ensure timely resolution
  • Audit access center staff to ensure they adhere to Ambulatory Access Guidelines and NAHAM full registration protocols, guaranteeing consistency and quality in patient care
  • Monitor referrals from Federally Qualified Health Center partners, tracking progress and addressing any issues that may arise
  • Report outstanding referrals to division Chiefs and Access Center Director, ensuring prompt attention to these matters
  • Collaborate with schedulers to optimize pre-registration processes, reducing denials by following NAHAM Access standards
  • Oversee Sharpen Access Dashboards, analyzing data to inform decision-making and drive improvement
  • Develop and deliver training programs for entry-level registration and scheduling staff, empowering them to excel in their roles
  • Track KPIs for the Access Team, maintaining high standards of performance and accountability

Education:

High School Diploma Required. Associate's degree, CHAA or CPC certification, or equivalent preferred. Relevant coursework or experience in healthcare administration, business, or a related field can be advantageous.

Experience:

3-5 years' experience in an Academic Medical Center environment, with 1-2 years supervisory or team lead experience in an Academic Medical Center setting. Proven track record of successfully managing teams and driving results in fast-paced healthcare environments.

Certification:

National Association of Health Care Access Management (NAHAM) CHAA or CHAM eligible. Other relevant certifications, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC), may also be considered.
