Software Engineering Director

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Director to lead our team of engineers in the development of Ubuntu.

This is a unique opportunity to work on a globally distributed team responsible for software managing access to all professional Ubuntu offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • B/strength and lead a team of engineers in the development of Ubuntu.
  • Develop talent through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development.
  • Work with Product Management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu and your team.
  • Effectively set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices.
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience leading, managing, coaching, and mentoring software developers.
  • Strong track record of developing and growing people.
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about software development.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills in English.
  • Experience with a modern GNU/Linux distribution, preferably Debian or Ubuntu.
