**Job Overview**
As a key member of our Global Supply Chain Organization, this role is responsible for developing weekly control reports that demonstrate the performance of processes, gaps, and deliverables. The successful candidate will lead the purchasing of finished goods for Grace facilities sourced from outside the USA, with primary destinations in Baltimore, Houston, and Chicago. The main goal of this role is to ensure accurate purchasing orders, guarantee timely arrivals, communicate delays, and actively resolve issues while maintaining/improving SOPs and processes.
The Import Controller will partner with business stakeholders and product management teams to drive a reliable supply plan that meets USA demand for imported materials. This role requires discipline to execute activities, with strategic contributions including a strong understanding of Material Requirement Planning and Import Management, as well as the ability to identify opportunities to improve inventory management.
Responsibilities include determining when Interco PO's of finished goods need to be placed with Sourced Grace Plants and coordinating updates to the PO process to ensure inventory levels prevent stockouts and overstock situations. The Import Controller will also be responsible for SAP MRP Master Data maintenance, keeping Master Data parameters up-to-date and accurate in SAP MDG.
On a weekly or daily basis, the Import Controller will run reports in the SAP system and execute purchasing of sourced finished goods, converting order proposals into POs. This role requires evaluation of order recommendations, making analyses, questioning uncertainties, and contacting immediate managers or relevant coworkers for clarification and confirmation.
The Import Controller will adjust/modify POs when required, proactively make follow-ups with Sourced Plant contacts, track purchase orders with support from exporting entities (Germany and Brazil) and import brokers (currently DSV). They will flag issues, have confidence to question the system, production, or other parties when concerns arise.
Additionally, the Import Controller will monitor shipments throughout arrival at destination using Grace's P44 subscription, which consolidates information from multiple shipping companies and provides alerts when information changes or AI algorithms believe carrier information is expected to be inaccurate.
This role involves close collaboration with all stakeholders in the interco process to ensure awareness of real arrival times, status of brokerage customs processes, estimated arrival at warehouses, and final real arrival at primary destinations. The Import Controller will coordinate with regional forwarding teams to expedite shipments, including direct shipments to customers and air freighting of material as needed.
