About the Role

We seek an experienced Principal SQL Engineer to lead our technology stack modernization efforts. As a key member of our team, you will foster a data-driven culture, drive AI adoption, and develop backend systems using MySQL and Python. You will collaborate closely with our web development teams to ensure seamless integration and implement data engineering and AI tooling to drive smarter, faster decision-making.

Your Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimize existing ETL processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Develop new reports using SQL queries and Python scripts to extract meaningful insights from various data sources
  • Design and implement new products, including interactive dashboards and reports using AWS QuickSight to facilitate data visualization and analysis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver software solutions around complex business needs
  • Write clear and concise documentation for code and processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of enterprise-level experience coding in Python and building Python-based web applications
  • 5+ years of professional experience working with MySQL or other SQL database
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience working with web development, with expertise in Python backend development
  • 3+ years of experience with building and consuming APIs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS services like QuickSight, S3, Aurora, StepFunctions, Lambdas, and Batch
  • Experience with Docker to containerize applications for seamless deployment
  • Experience working at a scaling startup
