Position Overview

The Latin America actuarial division at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking a skilled professional to spearhead actuarial evaluations for our Commercial Property portfolio in Latin America. This position presents a distinctive chance to collaborate with actuaries and business associates from Brazil and other Latin American countries. Additionally, the selected candidate will gain insights into a variety of actuarial methodologies, commercial offerings, and regional practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quarterly assessments of projected profitability and perform segmentation analysis to enhance understanding of relative profitability.
  • Calibrate annual pricing models to align with both internal profit objectives and external data benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with underwriting leadership to inform strategic initiatives.
  • Provide pricing assistance for significant individual accounts as needed.
  • Support the preparation of technical documentation for the regulatory authority in Brazil.

Team Dynamics

Our team delivers actuarial expertise to Corporate Solutions operations throughout the Americas and oversees the creation of numerous global actuarial models and parameters. We engage closely with our Property & Casualty business leaders, offering insights on profitability and necessary adjustments to rating plans to enhance performance. Furthermore, we partner with actuaries globally to create efficient cross-product models and standardized parameters.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in actuarial roles, ideally within property insurance pricing.
  • Active MIBA designation is required, with preferred experience in developing product actuarial technical documentation.
  • Intermediate proficiency in conversational English is essential.
  • Essential skills include: self-motivation and the ability to work autonomously; strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities; an internal drive to advance projects and meet deadlines; curiosity to analyze data and understand underlying factors; interest in formulating data-driven strategic initiatives in collaboration with portfolio managers; excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences; capability to translate technical insights into actionable guidance; and creativity in approaching actuarial challenges.
  • Experience with property insurance products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQL, R, and/or Python is advantageous.
