Job Summary

As a Probabilistic Safety Assessment Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation and refurbishment of existing CANDU nuclear power plants. You will be responsible for conducting probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems, including internal events, shutdowns, internal fires, internal floods, and seismic events.

As a Junior Probabilistic Safety Assessment Analyst, you will have the chance to develop your skills in PSA methodologies, codes, and standards, and work closely with clients to assess operational and safety issues.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems, including internal events, shutdowns, internal fires, internal floods, and seismic events.
  • Develop and implement risk monitors and generate risk assessments.
  • Work closely with clients to assess operational and safety issues and advise on potential solutions.
  • Prepare and review work proposals for internal and external clients.
  • Develop and coordinate detailed phases of analysis work for large-scale projects.
Requirements
  • A relevant honors degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out responsibilities noted above.
  • Excellent knowledge of CANDU design, including NSP (especially safety systems) and BOP.
  • Broad knowledge of system operation, plant response, and underlying reliability principles.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients in a client/consultant relationship.
  • Proficient in CAFTA suite of computer codes, CFAST, and RiskSpectrum an asset.
