Main Purpose of Job:

The Project Design Lead plays a crucial role in providing technical support services to global teams. The position involves understanding business requirements and creating solutions that align with defined standards and security protocols.

Key aspects of this role include designing, installing, maintaining, and validating solutions to ensure they meet technical and commercial expectations. This involves attending project meetings, design authorities, and supplier forums to drive strategic roadmaps within the telecoms environment.

Specialist support is provided to ensure solution designs deliver against project requirements while developing design principles within the organization.

  • Create and validate project requirements to ensure alignment with organizational principles.
  • Plan and oversee complex technical activities to ensure continuous functionality and adaptability to changing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date global technical documentation.
  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure network changes do not compromise security or performance.
  • Recommend fixes, updated versions, capacity management, end-of-life management, and select/deploy catalogued solutions to prevent operational issues.
  • Negotiate with vendors and validate supplier proposals to achieve organizational interests.
  • Develop and procure tools for monitoring, alerting, and configuration capabilities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to identify incident causes and develop suitable workarounds and resolutions.
  • Analyze and create intuitive management information reports to demonstrate and mitigate technical risk.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Relevant Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of networking technologies.
  • Hands-on expertise of Cisco WAN, LAN, Aruba WiFi, and network security technologies like Cisco Firepower.
  • Experience in proposing and developing network management tooling to support business requirements.
  • Commercial skills for techno-commercial evaluation of supplier proposal documents.
  • Ability to work co-operatively and independently as circumstances dictate.
  • Calm and decisive under pressure.
  • Confident, conscientious, and proactive attitude and behaviors.
  • Able to converse clearly and accurately.
  • Evidence of ability to work in a highly disciplined and structured IT environment.
  • Strong listening skills - Strong written communication skills.
