Energy Procurement Role Overview



Ball Corporation is seeking a skilled Energy Procurement professional to join our team. As an Energy Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company’s energy needs are met while minimizing costs and environmental impact.



Key Responsibilities





  • Assist in managing the tendering process for power and gas contracts, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions

  • Receive, analyze, and summarize energy supply offers from suppliers, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency

  • Prepare and present market updates to the Sector and Group Hedge Committees, providing valuable insights and recommendations

  • Work closely with Sustainability to report emissions and compliance data, ensuring alignment with company goals

  • Assist the Energy Manager in reviewing contracts and commercial terms, ensuring they meet Ball’s requirements

  • Analyze data to identify potential opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements

  • Develop and maintain energy data trackers, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information

  • Contribute to the redesign of Ball’s energy positions management system, ensuring seamless data management and system functionality

  • Communicate with utilities and public utility commissions to gather timely and accurate energy market intelligence

  • Manage the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and budget preparation and submission, ensuring alignment with company goals

  • Work with plant finance to understand rebates and discounts, ensuring optimal energy spend

  • Track energy usage forecasts, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurately communicated to suppliers

  • Audit hedges on a quarterly basis, ensuring compliance with company policies

  • Track contract renewals, ensuring all contracts are countersigned and uploaded into the contracts database

  • Develop and maintain reports on spend, savings, renewable energy coverage, and hedge positions, providing valuable insights and recommendations

  • Assist in analyzing new possibilities and innovative ways of lowering Ball’s energy spend, ensuring alignment with company goals



Requirements





  • Education to degree level in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Business Administration

  • Analytical background with high proficiency in Excel and data manipulation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work cross-functionally and within teams

  • Proactive and self-motivated, with ability to take ownership and lead projects

  • Strong time management and project management skills, with ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines

  • Capacity to manage and influence multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Able to think strategically, both short-term and long-term, and gain buy-in to new ideas and recommendations

  • Proven proficiency in English

  • Knowledge of commodities markets and technical analysis skills a plus

  • Knowledge of process mapping and energy markets desired

  • Financial evaluation models preferred
