We are looking for an exceptional Security Engineer to join our team and help protect the open source community from emerging threats.

This role is a unique opportunity to work with industry-leading security engineering teams and collaborate with top talent in the field to monitor, triage, respond to, and document new and existing vulnerabilities in open source software.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and techniques for fixing them. They will be responsible for analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities in open source packages, keeping track of vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem, collaborating with other teams in the Ubuntu community and upstream developers, auditing source code for vulnerabilities, and building features and tools to help teams strengthen the security of their products and contribute to the overall security of Ubuntu.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
  • Knowledge of open source development tools and methodologies
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript)
  • Excellent logic, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with the team and Ubuntu community members
