Linux Application Support Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a Linux Application Engineer to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Tools and HPC job scheduler.

About the Role:

This role requires a strong understanding of Linux operating systems and servers, as well as experience with EDA Tools such as Cadence, Siemens (Mentor Graphics) & Synopsys.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain EDA tools, our HPC job scheduler and license servers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to EDA Tool installation, license servers and HPC job scheduler.
  • Ensure timely resolution of high severity incidents, including communications, reporting, and tracking of follow-ups.
  • Monitor system performance and identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation on system configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the EDA team to ensure seamless integration of EDA tools and Linux infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to internal customers of EDA Tools and HPC job scheduler.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Linux Admin Professional Certification is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Linux system administration.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 & 8 and Rocky 8.
  • Experience with FlexLM license servers.
  • Experience with a HPC job scheduler such as LSF, SGE, UGE, PBS Works or Altair Accelerator.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface with customers and provide technical assistance.
  • Ability to communicate in non-technical terms to non-technical people.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
