Job Summary:
BluePearl is seeking an experienced and driven clinical leader to join our team as a Veterinary Group Medical Director for our West Region. This role will oversee multiple markets within the region, including California, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Colorado.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate organizational objectives into market-specific objectives to drive clinician engagement, retention, and fiscal performance.
- Travel frequently (50%) to hospitals to evaluate and mentor medical leaders and address concerns.
- Partner with regional operational leadership to ensure a balanced representation of medical quality and financial considerations.
- Lead and direct the Medical Directors of assigned region to ensure adherence with organizational objectives in areas involving medical quality, clinician recruitment, retention, and engagement.
- Ensure medical leaders are attentive to the engagement level of associates and drive a hospital climate of psychological safety.
- Identify medical leadership talent, ensure development of medical leaders, and create a pipeline of talent to support future organizational growth.
- Monitor reports on medical occurrences, patient safety, and client experience and partner with stakeholders as needed to ensure swift resolution, improvements, and/or coaching as needed.
- Partner with Regional Operational Leaders to ensure appropriate productivity levels and growth plans for Clinicians and hospitals, including optimizing technical team role clarity, skillset, and workflow efficiency.
- Actively contribute to the development of practice guidelines and care protocols that lead to the achievement of quality medical and service outcomes and cost efficiencies.
- Serve as a high-level representative and champion of BluePearl's mission and vision in all interactions within the organization and external veterinary community.
- Partner with Regional Medical and Operational Leadership to effectively communicate and cascade key initiatives impacting medical staff, building organizational trust.
- Accountable for on-site visit processes for DVM candidates in assigned markets, onboarding, and mentoring of new Clinicians through the mentorship program.
- Work collaboratively with support to develop solutions for escalated concerns and influence medical leaders to shape adoption and ensure effectiveness of resolutions.
Requirements:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent degree) required.
- 3+ years' leadership experience required.
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
- Works under minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritization of work, and problem-solving skills.
- Utilizes in-depth knowledge of business needs to recommend appropriate action.
