Job Description

The Programme Assistant will support the implementation of a project aimed at revising the Master Plan and developing the city's Mobility Plan in the municipality of Congonhas, Minas Gerais. The consultant will work closely with the UN-Habitat operational and technical teams to ensure timely completion of tasks, staying within budget and meeting quality standards.

Main Responsibilities

\
  • Support technical, administrative, and management activities to achieve project objectives.
  • Conduct research on urban issues and UN-Habitat methodologies to aid programme development team negotiations.
  • Systematize and exchange successful practices and experiences with other offices in the region and headquarters divisions.
  • Organize advocacy campaigns, events, trainings, workshops, and knowledge products.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences organized by UN-Habitat partners.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Prepare reports for partners and internal purposes.
  • Document expert group meetings, training events, and other activities related to project planning and implementation.
  • Maintain an organized and accessible information archive.
  • Evaluate all activities against United Nations principles of integrity.
  • Participate in missions as requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications

\
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Urban Studies, Architecture and Urbanism, Law, Geography, Economics or related field.
  • Strong research skills and ability to analyze data.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of United Nations security mechanisms.

The consultant is responsible for obtaining BSAFE security clearance from UNDSS during the first month of employment.
