At our organization, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Senior Urban Development Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who have a strong background in urban development and want to make a meaningful contribution to our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing technical content for a course on Financing and Public Budgeting. The course will be delivered in a distance learning modality (synchronous virtual workshops) and will be based on the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, and UN-Habitat mandate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop the didactic-pedagogical project of the course, including the syllabus, general and specific goals, methodology, structure and format, competencies, contents, and skills to be developed in each module.
- Elaborate the technical content of the didactic materials.
- Suggest additional didactic materials and guests as needed.
- Evaluate the knowledge acquired by the participants.
Working in close collaboration with the operational and technical teams of UN-Habitat office in Rio de Janeiro, you will work closely with experts in the field to develop high-quality training materials and deliver engaging workshops.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
Background: Our organization has a main mandate to promote sustainable development of human settlements and policies conducive to adequate housing for all. Within this framework, we support central and state governments, as well as local authorities and other partners for the implementation of the Habitat Agenda, the 2030 Agenda with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda.
Job Description:
- Raise awareness among participants and the public sector about financing strategies for local level projects and programmes.
- Strengthen the participants' knowledge about different types of governmental financial resource transfers to support the municipality's public spending.
- Raise awareness on how public municipalities budget are structured and what kind of municipal tools and strategies can be applied towards urban development.
- Prepare participants to identify financial partnerships and national/regional investment programs to reach the municipality development goals.
