This is a leadership position that focuses on supporting learners with special education needs and disabilities.

The role involves ensuring full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other statutory requirements. This includes coordinating the Education, Health and Care Plan process and statutory reviews. The Special Education Needs and Disability Coordinator will also work closely with external agencies, families, and local authorities to achieve the best outcomes for our learners.

A key aspect of this role is promoting a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team to deliver inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning. They will also use data and evidence to identify needs and track learner progress.

Key responsibilities include:

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes. They will also have experience of supporting learners with a range of needs, including those with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge. A proactive, organised, and collaborative approach is essential for this role.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. They will be confident in using data and digital systems to support planning and reporting. A full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites when needed are also required.

This is a non-teaching role that offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of learners with special education needs and disabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications and skills required for this role include:

  • Qualified SENCO
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
  • Experience of supporting learners with a range of needs, including those with learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge
