Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Safety Officer to join our team at SBM OFFSHORE. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the maintenance of Health, Safety, and Management Systems, and Operational Requirements.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the Development and Maintenance of a Health and Safety Culture
    1. Provide expert advice and guidance to relevant personnel on health and safety matters.
    2. Effectively communicate recommendations for improvement to relevant personnel.
    3. Provide information regarding potential hazards and trends.
    4. Maintain the profile of Safety as a company goal and give safe behavior a high value through actions and communications.
    5. Effectively promote positive safety behaviors and attitudes.
  2. Contribute to the Reporting, Investigation, and Follow-up of Incidents
    1. Effectively report details of incidents and near misses.
    2. Investigate or contribute to investigations of workplace incidents or near misses.
    3. Write clear and unambiguous reports with suitable recommendations forwarding them to the correct persons.
  3. Prepare and Present Demonstrations and Information and Perform General Security and Heli-Admin Duties
    1. Induct new personnel with the 'New Start Worker' procedure.
    2. Provide training plan and support for emergency response personnel as required.
    3. Ensure all Management System training material is on board and accessible to candidates.
    4. Provide training and assessment as required in Safety and Management System issues using appropriate and effective techniques, equipment, and materials.
    5. Maintain records of all safety training carried out on board and pass current summary listing to Operations Office and Monaco.
    6. Ensure personnel receive Heli-briefing prior to departure from the Marine Unit.
  4. Monitor and Maintain Pollution Control Measures
    1. Identify, halt, and report unplanned discharges to the environment according to policy, procedure, and regulation.
    2. Use relevant PPE to deal with unplanned discharges using company procedures.
    3. Deal with equipment, waste, or other materials for disposal according to the correct procedure.
    4. Enforce environmental protection and pollution control effectively with colleagues, subordinates, and subcontractors.
  5. Emergency Response
    1. Carry out Emergency Response role.
    2. During Emergency Response Drills and training exercises, demonstrate competence.
    3. Contribute to exercise design and analysis and debriefing after drills.

Requirements

Qualified to Minimum NEBOSH Cert preferred, NEBOSH Diploma would be an advantage. Minimum 5 years of Hydrocarbon Production Operations processing experience on or offshore OR 5 years as a Safety Officer in a similar environment FPSO experience preferred. Good experience in Safety Management Systems. Highly experienced in use and operation of PTW, Risk Assessment, Gas Testing, safe control, and monitoring of all hazardous maintenance activities including hot work and confined space entry. Experience in helicopter operations (HLO experience preferred). Medically fit with offshore International standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.

Personal Skills: Safety aware. Positive, assertive, conscientious. Able to work well with all levels of personnel.

Leadership: Good levels of written and spoken communication. Innovative with initiative. Good presentation skills.

Technical: Analytical, high standard of technical and professional knowledge, of safety systems and hazards of hydrocarbon systems.

IT: Use standard Management System 'Office' package electronic mail system.
