The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs plays a pivotal role in overseeing the academic operations of the School of Divinity at Howard University.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and direct the academic affairs of the School of Divinity, focusing on faculty development, curriculum planning, course scheduling, and student support services.
- Represent the school in university committees and campus-wide initiatives related to faculty development, research, and assessment.
- Collaborate with senior administrators in executing academic policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives in administration and academic affairs.
- Empower students to achieve academic success through engagement with curricular and co-curricular opportunities for learning.
Key Competencies
- Demonstrate expertise in planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and management for an organization of similar size and complexity.
- Show successful experience in managing capital projects, including coordination with construction managers, architects, and external consultants.
- Demonstrate ability to facilitate consensus-building in committee structures with senior administration and peers both internally and externally.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Exhibit leadership skills with a proven track record of communicating effectively with all levels of an organization.
- Possess a Master's degree and 12-15 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- A minimum of 16 years of related work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications.
