Legal Holds and Discovery Strategy Specialist

This role focuses on the preservation, collection, review, and production of information relevant to litigation matters, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations.

The Associate will be part of a team responsible for the end-to-end Legal Hold process including drafting, issuance, and monitoring of legal hold notices to employees. They will also provide guidance on the legal obligations surrounding those holds and facilitate their ultimate release.

This is an opportunity to collaborate with eDiscovery professionals in a dynamic environment, performing custodial and/or data source research, identification, preservation, and disposition within defined Service Level Agreements and turnaround times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Action, coordinate, and track inquiries and requests in connection with the identification, preservation, and collection of electronically stored information (ESI)
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on how discovery processes are conducted, focusing on legal holds, information governance, custodian interview questionnaires, data disposition, and matter closures
  • Liaise between internal litigators, outside counsel, technology partners, and lines of business to advise on discovery obligations, manage deliverables, and ensure compliance with firm policies and best practices
  • Lead and support internal initiatives related to audit readiness and legal technology implementation; identify opportunities to improve processes and document improvements
  • Create reports and deliver updates to management on an ad-hoc and periodic basis
  • Communicate facts, accomplishments, and key challenges and risks related to the team's efforts and collaborate effectively at all levels
Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification
  • 2+ years of experience in eDiscovery or litigation support at a consulting firm, discovery vendor, or law firm; certification such as ACEDS or PMP is a plus
  • Intermediate PC and Microsoft skills in a Windows environment; SQL, Oracle, VBA experience is a plus; data visualization skills with tools like Tableau is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to track multiple workstreams
  • Self-motivated, organized, team-oriented; ability to handle multiple confidential and time-critical priorities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communicator with a focus on client satisfaction, quality, process, and technology
