About the Role

You will play a pivotal part in our logistics team, responsible for securing carriers to transport freight for customers. Your key responsibilities include carrier procurement, load coverage, rate negotiation, customer communication, carrier management, documentation, problem resolution, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carrier Procurement: Source and negotiate with carriers to secure capacity for shipments, building and maintaining relationships with a network of carriers for reliable service.
  • Load Coverage: Coordinate the movement of freight by matching available carriers with customer shipments, utilizing transportation management systems (TMS) and other tools to find suitable carriers for each load.
  • Rate Negotiation: Negotiate rates and terms with carriers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining profitability, evaluating market conditions and carrier performance to optimize pricing strategies.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate with customers to understand their transportation needs and provide updates on load status, addressing any concerns or issues related to transportation.
  • Carrier Management: Manage carrier relationships by monitoring performance, resolving disputes, and providing feedback for improvement, ensuring carriers comply with contractual agreements and meet service level expectations.
  • Documentation: Generate and manage transportation documentation, including rate confirmations, bills of lading, and other required paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve transportation-related issues, such as delivery delays, equipment shortages, or route changes, implementing contingency plans to minimize disruptions to shipments.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze transportation data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving measures, using insights to optimize routing, carrier selection, and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or logistics coordination.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build rapport and influence others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

This role is critical to ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods from origin to destination. By effectively managing carrier relationships, negotiating rates, and coordinating shipments, you'll contribute significantly to meeting customer expectations and driving business success.
