Pension Specialists play a pivotal role in shaping the future of retirement provision.

The Role
  • Work within a team to stay on top of legislative requirements affecting occupational and personal pension arrangements.
  • Share responsibilities with other specialists.
  • Update online material ensuring it is logically structured and easily accessible.
  • Analyse new legislation, court cases, and changes in practice to identify areas requiring further investigation.
  • Write summaries of new developments for consultants and clients.
  • Provide a telephone, email, and face-to-face enquiry service while prioritising updating work.
  • Keep up-to-date on current developments outside areas of specialism.
  • Write publications, internal and external headlines, blog posts, and articles for external media as required.
  • Participate in internal and external seminars.

Qualifications
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to grasp complex legislative requirements.
  • Understanding of legislation and knowledge of DWP, HMRC, TPR, PPF, and other government departments' requirements for occupational, master trust, and personal pension arrangements.
  • Ability to expand knowledge to areas outside the specialism, including EU legislative material.
  • Analytical ability to examine new legislation or requirements and determine issues that need clarification.
  • Facility to link separate pieces of information from different sources to produce a composite picture.
  • Research ability and desire to find answers in source documents rather than relying on third-party publications.
  • Ability to simplify complex material while remaining accurate.
  • Good drafting and oral communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of knowledge limits and willingness to say when unsure, seek help, and inform consultants or clients.
  • Ability to prioritise several conflicting priorities under pressure and take responsibility.
  • Good organisation of self and others.
  • Logical mind with ability to structure and organise material intuitively and easily comprehensively.
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Congeniality and ability to work within a small specialist team.
