Job Opportunity: Waste Management Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Waste Management Specialist to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, processing, and loading solid waste and recyclables. They will also operate front-end loaders, skid steers, and articulating forklifts, as well as industrial balers and tub grinders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, process, and load solid waste and recyclables for shipment.
  • Operate heavy machinery, including front-end loaders, skid steers, and articulating forklifts.
  • Perform truck weigh station duties during vessel operations.
  • Use cargo straps, banding, pallet jacks, and power tools regularly.
  • Work in a physically demanding environment with constant activity, lifting, and carrying up to 70 lbs.
  • Support the station's Spill Team, including on-call duties after hours and possible night shifts.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to tasking responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work setting.
  • Meet Operations Division metrics and support ASC goals and contractual commitments.
  • Maintain a safe workplace and prioritize safety above all else.
  • Complete other tasks as required and report to the Waste Management Specialist.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, applicants must have:

  1. Previous experience living on a remote job site.
  2. Equipment operating experience.
  3. Familiarity with power tools and machinery.
  4. Ability to stand for up to 12 hours daily.
  5. Physical qualification assessment passing ability.
  6. Able to deploy to Antarctica for the contract duration.
  7. Possible travel to spill school within the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not mandatory, previous USAP Waste Management experience and deployment to Antarctica would be highly desirable.

Education:

A high school education or equivalent GED is required.

Certifications/Licenses:

Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and passport valid for six months after the contract end date.

Other Requirements:

US citizenship or permanent residency is required.
