The Career Guidance Professional role is responsible for providing expert guidance services to students and staff, focusing on counseling and education.
Main responsibilities include:
- Counseling students and staff to overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
- Providing crisis intervention in challenging situations at schools.
- Collaborating with parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to discuss student progress and resolve issues.
- Maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by laws and district policies.
In addition, the Career Guidance Professional will:
- Evaluate students' abilities, interests, and personality characteristics using assessments, records, interviews, or professional sources.
- Identify cases of domestic abuse or family problems and encourage students or parents to seek additional support from mental health professionals.
- Counsel students regarding educational matters such as course selection, class scheduling, and career planning.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience or 8 years of related work experience in lieu of educational qualifications.
This role demands strong communication skills, ability to establish effective working relationships, and knowledge of human behavior and performance principles.
