Job Summary

The Chemical/Production Engineer will provide technical leadership and oversight of key production processes.

  • This role is responsible for achieving production goals while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Track and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly yield, cost, downtime, WIP, and productivity data.

  • Develop a near real-time database of key operating metrics.
  • Ensure product quality through ongoing assessment of raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Ensure production schedules are met by coordinating raw materials, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Provide clear, timely instructions to operators.
  • Manage maintenance, shutdowns, and level-loading across operations.
  • Lead efforts to reduce operating costs by improving yield and productivity.
  • Support workflow optimization and equipment utilization projects.
  • Enhance batch reaction and distillation unit operations.
  • Resolve manufacturing and process issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate operating conditions and instructions effectively to floor staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date SOPs, technical instructions, and validation protocols.
  • Lead hazard assessments and safety reviews for projects and process changes.
  • Implement redundant safety interlocks and ensure compliance with change management protocols.
  • Enforce PPE use and ensure chemical exposure compliance.
  • Support EH&S initiatives to meet PEL, RCRA, wastewater, and air quality standards.
  • Drive projects to reduce environmental emissions and waste.
  • Participate in investigations for deviations and complaints.
  • Manage corrective/preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Ensure sample scheduling aligns with production goals.
  • Validate changes impacting regulated manufacturing processes.
  • Lead capital and process improvement projects from conception to implementation.
  • Manage cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and budgets.
Requirements

This role requires strong technical knowledge and experience in production engineering.

  • A degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
