About the Role

Are you a technical expert with a passion for platform operations? We're looking for a skilled Platform Operations Engineer to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our data socialization and visualization platform, Atlas.

As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, operation, and improvement of AWS platform infrastructure. This includes managing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, observability, cost monitoring, and system reliability. You will also collaborate closely with our Backend Engineering Team Lead and work alongside our engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to write comprehensive unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and mentor junior engineers. You will also contribute to the development and maintenance of APIs and backend services for the Atlas platform. Additionally, you will provide on-call support rotation for platform stability and report directly to the CTO, providing updates on platform health, risks, and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, operation, and improvement of AWS platform infrastructure
  • Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines, observability, cost monitoring, and system reliability
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to develop and maintain APIs and backend services for the Atlas platform
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests
  • Participate in code reviews and peer programming
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices in platform operations
  • Provide on-call support rotation for platform stability
  • Report directly to the CTO, providing updates on platform health, risks, and opportunities
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience (REST/GraphQL APIs, Python, or similar)
  • 2+ years of professional experience in platform operations, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps
  • Real-world experience with SQL and cloud-based data systems
  • Proficiency in AWS services (ECS, EKS, RDS, Lambda, Secrets Manager, etc.)
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise, with CloudFormation (primary) and Terraform (secondary)
  • Experience with container orchestration and infrastructure automation (Git, CI/CD, Docker)
  • Familiarity with observability stacks (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
  • Strong leadership in technical strategy, platform design, and reliability
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed team
  • A./B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related area, or relevant experience
