Art Collections Specialist

This is a collaborative and experienced position overseeing the preservation, documentation, and display of the university's art collection.
The collections specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, overseeing the condition of the collection, and implementing professional museum standards.
Key Responsibilities- Administer the collections management system to ensure pertinent object information.
- Create new object/artist records and maintain a detailed acquisition log.
- Serve as the museum's point person in the gift-acceptance process.
- Monitor and ensure the physical well-being of the collection.
- Spearhead and maintain a program of risk management and disaster preparedness.
- Manage staff and oversee outside contractors.
- Provide access to the physical collections for classes, students, faculty, and staff.
Experience in museum studies or a related field, proficiency in American Alliance of Museums standards, and strong organizational skills are required. Ability to lift and handle artworks safely also necessary.
