AI Engineer Job Description

Freight Hero is looking for an AI Engineer to develop and evolve the company's core AI capabilities. The ideal candidate will work directly with the CEO to design a strategic roadmap for integrating AI into the platform.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Own the AI stack, leading architecture, development, and refinement of Freight Hero's AI capabilities.
  • Define the strategic vision for AI integration in broker workflows.
  • Build and deploy AI-powered systems and tools, including internal operator assistants and task-oriented agents.
  • Prototype, validate, and iterate on AI solutions.
  • Optimize human-in-the-loop performance by designing workflows that integrate with Freight Hero's augmented operations team.
  • Integrate AI systems with TMS platforms, VOIP systems, CRMs, and broker operations tools.
  • Architect scalable, cloud-native infrastructure for concurrent sessions and asynchronous callbacks.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • English proficiency, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • LLM & agentic workflow experience, deep understanding of prompt engineering and multi-turn conversation design.
  • Experience building AI-powered productivity tools, such as internal copilots and summarization services.
  • Product ownership mindset, ability to define what to build and why.
  • Startup grit, experience building from scratch in early-stage or high-velocity environments.
  • System design and infrastructure, proficient in designing scalable systems that integrate securely with cloud platforms.
  • Human-centric automation, passion for blending AI with human judgment.
  • Cross-functional collaboration, strong communication skills and a bias toward action when aligning with business stakeholders and operations teams.
