Job Description

  • Prepare patient samples through grossing, tissue processing, and sectioning.
  • Conduct immunohistochemical staining of tissue sections using automated equipment.
  • Perform whole slide imaging of stained slides.
  • Maintain minor equipment and perform troubleshooting tasks.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Properly handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.
  • Comply with CAP, CLIA, and NYS regulations.
  • Document instrument maintenance records.
  • Provide quality metrics to the Quality Department.
  • Follow Department Standard Operating Procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications

">
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of histology experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory is required. Supervisory experience is preferred. Background in breast cancer diagnostics is advantageous.
  • Significant Histology and IHC experience is necessary in a clinical laboratory setting. Experience with imaging platforms is beneficial.
  • ASCP QIHC certification is highly desirable.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-motivated and able to manage time effectively.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for collaboration with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing workloads is crucial.
  • Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet the requirements of CLIA CFR.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in life sciences or equivalent histology qualification is required.
  • Anatomic or clinical pathology degree is advantageous.
