We are seeking a talented Research Analyst to join our Power and Renewables team in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a key member of our research team, you will contribute to delivering long-term outlooks for the Southern Cone power market, which includes Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile.

Our team provides integrated subscription, research, and advisory services to inform and support our clients' commercial and strategic decisions in the complex and rapidly changing electric power industry. You will help us stay ahead of the curve by analyzing data, generating market insights, and building analytical models to create forecasts.

As a Research Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to market analysis on Wood Mackenzie's long-term Southern Cone power outlooks.
  • Own the development and improvement of Wood Mackenzie's proprietary analytical models that underpin the market coverage.
  • Develop and maintain forecast models and data sets across verticals within the Power & Renewables Practice. Collaborate with other analysts globally to leverage best practices across the organization.
  • Provide high-quality client service to research subscribers through responding to inquiries, one-on-one conversations, and special events.
  • Collaborate with peers across Wood Mackenzie to support research reports, conferences, marketing services, and editorial coverage.
  • Support specific consulting assignments related to the Southern Cone power markets as needed
  • Originate, lead, and write brief and timely insights regarding new market trends, strategies, and other developments across the Southern Cone power markets.
  • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the Southern Cone power markets.
  • Support global LCoE research efforts with inputs for the Southern Cone power markets.

Key Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum 2 years of industry experience in the power sector and knowledge of the structure of wholesale power markets and its operation.
  • An analytical mindset and an eye for detail, which has been proven in your work experience to date.
  • The ability to work independently and generate ideas by leveraging and expanding your industry network.
  • Comfortable disrupting your routine to learn and provide in-depth analysis on industry trends and innovative market dynamics.
  • Strong programming skills, including SQL Server, Excel VBA, Python, Power BI, R, Aurora, PLEXOS, and Power Query.
  • A significant understanding of mathematical programming and optimization techniques.
