Brazil Country Leadership Position

The Brazil Country Program Director oversees all aspects of the country program, providing strategic leadership and support for conservation planning work. This includes establishing priorities for the country, managing risks and safety, contributing to revenue strategies, and communicating with stakeholders. The director leads local institutional and governmental relations, acts as a spokesperson, and serves as the main contact to government agencies and other organizations.

This dynamic leader will develop and implement ambitious place-based conservation strategies that deliver across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. They will engage with key stakeholders to accelerate impact and achieve scale by unlocking pathways for conservation efforts and more sustainable production practices. They will also play a leading role in donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship for the program.

The Director will oversee a team of approximately 150 people to implement the conservation agenda in Brazil. They should have proven experience in fundraising from public and private sources and be comfortable working at the CEO and Ministerial level. The Director collaborates with other TNC units across TNC to access and leverage human and financial resources to deliver conservation results.

Responsibilities include setting the Conservation Program agenda/objectives, collaborating with Regional and Global Team leads, supervising staff, managing finance and external affairs teams, building an Advisory Board of Trustees, and leading fund-raising efforts. The ideal candidate has high ethical standards, emotional intelligence, and a reputation in the conservation and business sectors. They are accountable for the Conservation Program's success and adherence to organizational values.

The Director reports to the Regional Director to Accelerate Impact (DAI). Key qualifications include strategic thinking, effective management and leadership, and ability to inspire and lead a multi-disciplinary team. Experience working with boards and collaborations with other organizations is highly desirable.
