As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, you will be part of a 60,000+ strong workforce that strives to protect the American people by facilitating trade and travel.
The typical assignments include:
- Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
- Facilitating legitimate trade and travel.
- Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
- Determining admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
- Preventing illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of contraband.
Your duties may involve working in various geographic locations across the United States.
Annual salary ranges from $61,111 to $124,443 per year for newly appointed CBPOs.
Officers are eligible for overtime pay and federal employment benefits, including health, dental, and other insurance plans, generous annual and sick leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan.
Some locations may offer recruitment incentives ranging from 10% to 25% of the annual salary.
To qualify for this role, you must meet certain requirements, including citizenship, residency, age, and education standards.
Formal training includes orientation and academy at FLETC in Glynco, GA, with possible Spanish training for certain locations.
