Climate Scientist Opportunity
Greenpeace International (GPI) is seeking a highly skilled Climate Scientist to join the GPI Science Unit, part of the newly formed Political, Science and Research Pillar. This role will provide scientific support to Greenpeace campaigns, with a focus on climate science developments.
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, with a strong research, analysis and reporting background. They will be able to build strong networks and relationships, interpret findings and provide actionable insights. The ability to effectively prioritise work elements and communicate complex information to diverse teams is essential.
This role requires a deep understanding of how science works, including toxicology, organic and inorganic analytical chemistry, biochemistry and terrestrial and marine ecology. Experience in working with multicultural staff and teams across borders is also necessary.
The Climate Scientist will contribute to shaping global programme goals and strategies with a scientific basis, providing input on science strategy and tactics for campaigns. They will also assist in quality control functions of the Science Unit, collaborate with Science Unit staff and maintain professional contacts with relevant scientists.

**Job Description**
In this role, you will:
- Provide strategic input and recommendations to shape global programme goals and strategies with a scientific basis
- Support campaign planning and implementation through science-related elements
- Design and conduct field research projects, produce reports based on data
- Represent Greenpeace at global and national high-level meetings requiring scientific credibility on climate change
- Stay at the forefront of scientific advancements relating to climate change and uphold the highest standards of research
- Evaluate and provide insights on emerging technologies such as geoengineering and carbon capture and storage
- Assist in quality control functions of the Science Unit
- Collaborate with Science Unit staff and maintain professional contacts with relevant scientists

**Required Skills and Qualifications**
- PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline
- Strong research, analysis and reporting skills
- Good understanding of how science works and ability to build strong networks and relationships
- Ability to interpret findings and provide actionable insights
- Experience in working with multicultural staff and teams across borders
