**Position Title**: Field Bioinformatics Scientist, Latin America (Brazil)

**Reports to**: Commercial Director, Latin America

**Department**: MGIA Customer Service

**Location**: Sao Paulo, Brazil (Open to Latin America Region with preference for Brazil, Sao Paolo or Rio De Janeiro)

**POSITION PROFILE**

As a Field Bioinformatics Scientist at MGI, you will provide expert support to customers from instrument and software installations, NGS data processing and analysis to after-sale technical support. You will also assist R&D process by providing the customers’ feedbacks for the further development and improvement of MGI’s products.

This position is based in the Brazil, Rio De Janeiro or Sao Paulo. Occasional travels to Canada and Latin America countries are also required.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Onsite installation and commission of MGI’s hardware products such as Sequencers, Servers, and networking infrastructures;
- Deploy MGI’s software and bioinformatics pipelines;
- and after-sale technical support on MGI instruments, software and bioinformatics pipelines;
- Provide support for NGS informatics processing and data analysis;
- Maintain and upgrade MGI’s data processing and analysis algorithms;
- Assist R & D in the development and improvement of products by providing feedbacks from customers;
- Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment to meet deadlines;
- Assist sales in introducing MGI’s products to potential customers;
- English, Portuguese and Spanish language ability required;
- Up to 50% traveling;
- Willing to travel to Canada and Latin America countries as needed.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ related work experience;
- Familiar with the servers, centralized & distributed storage, and cloud computing products commonly used in the market;
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills;
- Be able to perform under time constraints with great troubleshooting skills;
- Background in genomics, computational analysis of NGS data is a strong plus;
- Experience interacting with customers (both internal and external);
- Proficiency in R, Python, Perl and/or Java, and the Linux environment;
- Familiarity with public genetics resources such as dbSNP, ClinVar, UCSC, NCBI, Ensembl and COSMIC, etc.

**EDUCATION**
- Ph.D. or Masters in Bioinformatics, Genetics or Computational Biology.
