Accountable for the strategic direction, business/resource planning, and team leadership of the Medical Affairs function. Directs and supports to assure operational effectiveness and efficiencies through a continuous improvement approach. Accountable for staff development, evaluation, hiring and alignment of personnel to support Medical Affairs objectives.

Typical Responsabilities:

- Responsible for leading a Medical Affairs function in Brazil
- Provides expertise to global stakeholders within area of responsibility
- Inputs significantly to the national Medical Affairs strategy and provides some input into the global Medical Affairs strategy
- Develops understanding of the needs of supported functions, and ensures the Medical Affairs function in own country or region is capable of delivering against these
- Leads or oversees a diverse range of initiatives to improve decision making and ensure continuous improvement within Medical Affairs
- Leads the development, with a team, of new methodologies or processes to provide business benefits and evaluate time and cost implications
- Keeps own knowledge and other’s knowledge of best practices and relevant developments up to date
- Leads, guides, evaluates and develops a management team within own area of Medical Affairs to ensure it achieves its objectives and complies with all relevant regulation and laws
- Identifies development opportunities for direct reports
- Carries out effective succession planning.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience essentials
- Master’s Degree
- Mastery of Medical Affairs within a specific field
- Ability to lead cross functional working groups and teams
- Experience, leading, promoting, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organizational objectives
- Extensive experience of Medical Affairs within a pharmaceutical industry and significant understanding of the overall drug development process and stakeholder influence
- Project management experience
- Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive organizational relationships
