Our Medical Affairs team advances patient care by engaging in scientific exchange with external medical experts and industry professionals ensuring the scientific value of our products is realized. We engage and train internal employees to ensure that they thoroughly comprehend the science behind the medicine and review further unmet medical needs to bolster collaboration and further differentiate our portfolio.
**Role Summary**:
The Regional Director Medical Affairs will be accountable for driving execution of scientific & medical affairs plans for the Infectious Disease Program, in the countries of Latin America (LATAM). The Regional Director Medical Affairs is an impactful member of regional cross-functional teams, including regional Commercial, Center of Real-World Evidence (CORE), Policy and Market Access. They engage with their network of scientific leaders in their region.
**Primary Activities**:
- Guides country Research & Development staff to execute the annual value and evidence, scientific & medical plan for the Infectious Diseases Programs;
- Chairs the Regional Medical Affairs Team to ensure execution of established medical tactics and leverage best practices;
- Ensures scientific exchange is aligned with the global scientific communications platform;
- Partners with regional Commercial, regional Center of Real-World Evidence (CORE), regional Policy and regional Market Access to drive development and execution of region plans;
- Consolidates actionable medical insights from countries in LATAM;
- Engages with a network of contracted Scientific Leaders (SL) and other key stakeholders (therapeutic guideline committees, payers, public groups, government officials, medical societies) from LATAM;
- Supports, as regional expert, affiliates staff in engagement with their national scientific leaders;
- Organizes regional group input events to answer questions regarding how to implement new indications: advisory boards and group input meetings;
- Organizes regional symposia and educational meetings;
- Supports countries with the development of local data generation study concepts and protocols;
- Reviews investigator-initiated study proposals from LATAM prior to headquarters submission;
- Manages regional programs (patient support, educational or risk management) to promote appropriate and safe utilization of our company’s medicines.
**Required** **Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
- MD, PhD or PharmD and recognized medical and clinical expertise in Infectious Diseases;
- Experience in country / region Medical Affairs;
- Advanced English language proficiency;
- Spanish language knowledge will be considered a plus;
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (written as well as oral) skills, in addition to results-oriented project management skills;
- Strong prioritization and decision-making skills;
- Clear focus on the strategy and ability to facilitate its implementation in the countries of LATAM;
- Able to effectively collaborate with partners across divisions in a matrix environment;
- Scientific leadership and other key stakeholders (payers, public groups, government officials, medical professional organizations) in the Infectious Diseases space is preferred.
