Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is seeking an **Avionics Technical Manager** reporting to the BR&T MBE (Model Based Engineering) Senior Manager working out of the São José dos Campos, Brazil office. The **Avionics Technical manager** will join MBE department which supports AvionX organization to adopt MBE solutions and develop programs.

**Avionics Technical Manager** will manage employees performing activities within multiple Engineering disciplines. The focus will be to develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals. The Avionics Technical Manager will acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements which include developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

The Avionics Technical Manager will provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. The position requires strategic and interdisciplinary thinking, leadership, strong written and oral communication skills, presentation and technical writing skills, analytical skills, collaboration, initiative, independent and technical judgment, the ability to influence others and manage, develop and motivate employees.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- Lead execution and coordination of programs within schedule and budget with emphasis on system and software development for Avionics systems
- Manage, coach, train and mentor direct reports, partners and contractors

- Implement and perfection operations by using agile methods
- Develop and implement technical solutions to engineering challenges- Analyze and efficiently present engineering results

- Promote maintain meaningful partnerships with internal and external partners and customers
- Domestic and international travel

**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)**:

- 7+ years ‘experience in Systems/Software Engineering
- 3 years’ experience in technical management
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in leading and developing technical teams and managing programs
- Experience with commercial off-the-shelf model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
- Must be legally able to work in Brazil

**Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience)**:

- Experience in Product Development along the **full lifecycle of an engineering product** covering requirements management/definition, safety/reliability analysis, architectural definitions, integration and test
- Experience with commercial off-the-shelf requirements/architecture management and modeling tools/languages such as Cameo Systems Modeler, DOORs and sysML
- Experience with software object-oriented programming languages (such as Java, C++, etc.)
- Experience in Research and Physical Reasoning
- Knowledge in airplane systems and systems integration, qualification, test and certification
- Experience in automotive or other industries
- Previous work/College experience in multicultural environments
- Portuguese, German, Spanish and other European languages
- MS or PhD are a strong plus

**Typical Education and Experience**:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master +8 years' related work experience).
