**Role Purpose**
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Head of Arts to bring exciting initiatives to life, contributing to one or more of our impactful global Arts programmes: Culture Connects, Spotlights on Culture, Creative Economy, and Arts Responds to Global Challenges.
You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a small, dedicated team in-country, while building and managing relationships with sector partners and stakeholders. Beyond that, you’ll connect with peers across the region and our global arts network, fostering collaboration on innovative programmes that make a difference worldwide.
**Main accountabilities but not limited to the following**
- Ensures that project is delivered according to all corporate (and where relevant, client) standards of quality and compliance (for example: finance, safeguarding, EDI, procurement, social value and conflict sensitivity).
- Responsibility for managing all contractual obligations on projects including financial.
- Convenes risk meetings, updates risk register and either mitigates or escalates risk.
- Ensure that the procurement, grants management and due diligence are managed in compliance with corporate standards.
- Responsible for projects management reporting (including contributing to financial reporting)
- Develops M&E Plans and/or results frameworks (including indicators and relevant tools) and reports to both client and British Council impact targets.
- Provides specialist input and design to help ensure activities under the Arts global programmes are relevant to the Arts and creative industry sectors in country.
- Actively collaborates with colleagues in Arts global teams on programmes.
- Uses digital platforms and technological advancements to improve efficiency, impact and quality of activity design and delivery.
- Incorporates specific actions to address equality, diversity and inclusion priorities in programme delivery.
- Manages Arts activities day-to-day ensuring global standards on programme and contract management are achieved.
- Responsible for data management including timely data entry, quality assurance of data, undertaking basic analysis of monitoring data, and developing progress reports.
- Uses their own knowledge of the country’s arts and creative industries, intelligence and insight from other sector partners, to support the implementation of global arts programmes that meet the specific needs of the country while also providing value to UK arts and creative industry organisations.
- Through ongoing relationships with Global arts colleagues, builds and maintains good understanding of UK arts and creative industry sector priorities.
- Identifies opportunities for the UK Arts sector to work in and collaborate with peers in country.
- Has relationships with delivery partners and stakeholders within country and is able to procure services and contract delivery partners.
- Holds suppliers to account for delivering against contract.
- Build strong internal relationships and networks.
- Responsible for internal and client, procurement, contracting, compliance and reporting.
- Ensure sound financial planning, working closely with finance teams to ensure British Council and client financial year plans are up to date.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly (re)forecasting is in place, by running regular reports in the SAP system on actuals, monitoring outstanding purchase orders, reviewing commitments, analysing and commenting on reasons for variances to plan and recommending corrective actions.Monitoring monthly finances, including correct expenditure.
**Requirements of the role**
- Good knowledge and understanding of current trends and practices in at least one sector of the arts and creative industries in the country.
- Experience of working on national arts/ creative industry projects.
- C1 Portuguese and C1 English or equivalent.Bachelor’s Degree in cultural management, Arts, creative economy, communications or related fields (Desirable).
