**Project Overview and Role**:
The Senior Business Associate - Sustainable Finance & Markets is a new role that will support the identification, design (financial modelling & business planning) and implementation of a portfolio of NBS related programs, projects and associated financial mechanisms in Brazil.
This job position will report to Brazil’s Director for Sustainable Finance and Markets and work closely with the “Director for Nature Based Solutions” in Brazil while liaising with the international NBS to design commercially sustainable models, acceleration programs, products and financial mechanisms, packaging and marketing our offer to potential clients and coordinating on prospect identification and management.
As such, the Senior Associate will participate in the development of a pipeline of opportunities, focusing on Brazil, and therefore will provide end-to-end project management with potential and existing clients; support the design of the programs’ elements, support the development of the commercial offer, and, day to day management of such projects for its full implementation.
**Primary Duties and Responsibilities**:
Proactively work with the SFM Director in the implementation of Palladium’s NBS strategy for Brazil in supporting the development of new partnerships and contracts while also supporting and providing input to existing projects and increase the value of existing partnerships, supporting the objectives of the NBS platform which entails in:
- Produce high quality research and analysis; ability to do high-quality desk research, identify and analyze data, reports, synthesize relevant information for the purposes of the projects she/he is engaged with, and convey key hypothesis and conclusions
- Write and edit high-quality Palladium products, including reports, policy briefs, white papers, and topic-specific presentations
- Support business development for NBS initiatives which includes managing the identification, assessment, pursuit and keeping track of new commercial opportunities
- Support the development of technically sound and client-focused proposals that will require strategic insights and technical input
- Co-Manage closely with the SFM Director a portfolio of projects. As such, work with the SFM Director from the planning phase of each project to its submission and closing out with potential client, in partnership with the global NBS team and Palladium country manager in Brazil;
- Engage with a variety of stakeholders for the purposes of building relationships related to Palladium’s work with NBS.
For each project, work with the SFM Director in day-to-day project management, which includes:
a) Management of data room, and regular updating of the status of each project
b) Project updates to clients, including high-quality written documents and slide decks with project status, risk assessment of project completion, needs and recommendations for the client’s knowledge and feedback
c) Moreover, perform rigorous quantitative evaluation when needed, which can include management of data sets and financial modelling, and produce and format analytical output (tables, graphs, maps to present internally and to clients);
d) Contribute with insights and ideas about the activities foreseen and monitoring of deliverables
e) Maintain strong and productive relationships with external stakeholders
**Required Qualifications**:
- Relevant professional experience in management consulting and/or academic research or a combination of both;
- Excellent analytical, financial and business acumen skills is mandatory - which includes ability to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis including, but not limited to developing business plans, assessing different scenarios, market scenarios and so on;
- Excellent collaborative, organization and presentation skills;
- Ability to build a strong client and in-company relationships
- Successful track record in managing/delivering complex programs with the private sector
- Track record in the land use, energy and extractive industry, focused on:
a) Reforestation and restoration business models
b) Climate Change and land-use knowledge in the context of South America
c) Business plan development for community led entrepreneurship
- Strong writing and presentation skills in English and Portuguese
- Fluency in English and Portuguese languages are mandatory
- Degree in economics, finance, business planning and related
- Experience in the financial sector or consulting space highly desirable
- Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working in the international development sector and/or the land use, energy, extractive industries as a consultant is a plus
- Prior experience with managing complex projects with the private sector
- Decarbonisation strategies
- Based in Brazil;
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
