Expand knowledge about changes in Brazilian social structure and stratification in the last 20 years in order to establish parameters and provide relevant information for the formulation, evaluation and reformulation of public policies for Brazilian socioeconomic development, according to a cut of occupation classes to from the map of classes used in the research. In addition, it is expected that the database will make it possible to advance on the determinants of social mobility in the Brazilian case, as well as to identify its obstacles and the public policy measures necessary to remove the obstacles to greater social mobility.

**Responsibilities**:
Class maps have been used to analyze the dimensions of Brazilian inequality focusing on educational, gender, and ethnic attributes. As one example see the work of Souza and Carvalhaes (2014) that analyzes the contribution of education to the reduction of inequality between 2002 and 2011. The evidence obtained by the authors display that improved educational levels were more important for inequality reduction in the Brazilian case, than other intervening factors.
Pompeu et al. (2020) presents a critical discussion of the different theoretical and methodological matrices for defining class structure typology, as well as the empirical metrics applied to Brazil and the implications for public policies. This paper therefore evaluated the main theoretical strands that have proposed typologies and metrics for building class structure maps.
The empirical measurement of the typology proposed by Pompeu et al. (2020) both in terms of occupational classifications and their temporal extent presents some challenges. The interpolation of the annual PNAD with the historical series prior to 2002 as well the series after 2015 of Continuous PNAD presents technical problems and statistical work to build an updated series of the occupational class map for Brazilian social structure. In addition, the map can be refined with the inclusion of other databases in the survey, in particular the POF data to correct the incomes of the lower classes and the IRS data to improve the information for the higher income classes. Likewise, a review of the annual changes in the occupational structure presented by the Brazilian Classification of Occupations (CBO) is needed. Such work will result in an operational database that will allow researchers and policy makers to study the impacts of public policies on the various class typologies according to occupational categories and, if necessary, to reformulate these policies.
OBJECTIVES:

- To integrate the annual PNAD database with the continuous PNAD, in such a way that it is possible to build a series from 2002 to 2020 with the class typology for Brazil that inform for each year and for each class of the occupation tipology: number of classified informants; average income of the informanti; average education (measured by years of instruction) of the informant classified; participation of gender and color in each class of the occupation typology.
- To adjust the incomes of the Pnad based on information from the Pesquisa de Orçamento Familiar - POF (Household Budget Survey) according to classes of the occupation typology, of the lower income classes and, especially, of the higher income classes of the referred map of classes by occupation.
- To compare these alterations in the occupation classification of the continuous PNAD with the occupation classification used in the typology drawn up in the Social Classes Map used by the survey in order to verify its consistency or alterations that imply changes in the original typology of the survey.

Qualifications/special skills
Academic Qualifications: degree in economics, sociology or political sciences.
Experience: - minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in areas related to economics, sociology or political science; to the Brazilian Classification of Occupations; to typologies and class maps based on the occupational structure of PNAD informants among others.
