Primary job role

The primary job role of the ‘Legal & Commercial Officer’ will be to manage, coordinate and organize all legal matters of Fortude, including liaising with international and local legal experts to provide decision-making support for the management team.

Main duties/responsibilities
Review and draft contracts, agreements, and internal policies and ensure that they comply with all statutory and legal requirements in consultation with external legal experts.
Provide business decision support in consultation with external legal experts.
Establish robust vetting and signoff processes for all legal transactions.
Review existing contracts and ensure all obligations are understood and complied with.
Liaise with relevant departmental stakeholders to communicate legal risks.
Coordinate and manage the progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with external lawyers when required.
Continuously monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise the management accordingly.
Prepare reports for the management team on legal matters.
Experience
3+ years of experience in a similar role
Experience in handling international clients will be considered an advantage
Technical Knowledge
Good time management, coordination, and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
Excellent communication skills
Proficiency in IT
Strong attention to detail and an investigative mindset

**Qualifications**:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or the Attorney-at-law qualification
