League Ops Associate

AcadArena, the home of campus gaming across Southeast Asia, is expanding its activities to Brazil. We're building the place where students **play, connect and learn**.

Started in 2019 as a volunteer events gig, we've grown into a venture-backed 30-plus-person team creating communities, technologies and experiences that allow hundreds of thousands of students to learn about and explore the world of gaming and the metaverse.

**What the Role Is About**:
As a gaming company, play is at the core of AcadArena - be it in our casual weekly cups or our seasonal major leagues. As a League Ops Associate, you'll be working with the Brazil team delivering the operational side of our competitive products.

This is an entry-level, contractor, role position meant for tournament administrators who want to craft amazing experiences for students to play with one another. You'll be the point person who makes sure our tournaments start and end on time and without a hitch - both online and eventually, offline.

**Responsibilities**:

- Screen, train and lead a team of student referees and student marshals through high-energy and high-pressure tournaments.
- Coordinating with your General Manager in anything and everything league operations from player coordination and scheduling to administration and rule enforcement.
- Service end-to-end league operations in a strict systematic manner while preserving dignity and cadence of our brand.
- Brainstorming and deploying creative solves and updates to our league design and rulebook with your General Manager.
- Coordinating with the Play, Marketing & Studios team for player and league centric content initiatives.

**Qualifications**:

- ** Early Stage Play.** 1+ year in league operations - ideally in both online and offline projects. Experience in products catering primarily to students is a plus.
- ** Operations Aficionado**. Has a proven track record in running different tournaments from start to finish while working with a team and other personnel.
- ** Tools of the Trade**. Proficient with industry-standard tools for league ops such as Battlefy, Challonge, Gamersclub, Smash.gg, Excel and Google Sheets.
- ** Know the Lingo**. Familiar with industry-standard terminology such as tournament formats, elo systems and rulebook structure.
- ** Service Oriented**. Performs and leads well under pressure with empathy and compassion to participants.
- ** Tenacity and Virtue**. Has the willpower to deal with personalities of all kinds and issue decisions/penalties with strong conviction - all while upholding our core values and maintaining a professional attitude.
- ** Values-driven & Youth Focused.** You strongly believe in youth empowerment and have a good grasp of their needs and struggles.
- ** Gaming & Tech-savvy.** Strong interest in video games and esports. Fully immersed in a digital lifestyle.
- ** Effective Communicator.** Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills in Portuguese. Intermediate English.

**Nice To Haves**:

- Past Experience with student organizations.
- Familiar with Web3 and Metaverse concepts, like Play-to-Earn games and Crypto Wallets
- Familiar with regional culture and trends in Brazil and SEA.
