PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The SAP Globalization Services team localizes SAP’s software for use in different countries. The team has software development locations across the world, including Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, India, Portugal, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.
We are seeking a senior user assistance developer (technical writer) to join our team in São Leopoldo, Brazil. You will work closely with stakeholders (software developers and product management experts) to understand the business processes and how the software covers these processes. You will then develop the user assistance that tells our customers how to implement, configure, and run our software.
As well as conventional kinds of documentation, such as written guides, our team is increasingly looking at other forms of content that complement this, such as multimedia and social media. And, since the stakeholders also create additional forms of information for our customers, a part of your job will be to help “curate” this information for the customers’ benefit.
We offer a comprehensive training plan, including business knowledge, SAP’s software, documentation tools, writing skills, and SAP’s house style. During your onboarding period, a mentor will accompany and support you in your tasks.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
- Planning, researching, and creating the content required by consultants and other users (in English)
- Editing user interface texts to ensure usability and user-centricity
- Researching and defining terminology
- Providing additional kinds of information, such as short videos or blog posts, as required
- Participating in team projects to define processes and standards to be used by other team members

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills
- English native speaker (or near native-speaker level)
- University degree in business, humanities, or technical writing
- The ability to explain complex concepts clearly, and to distil information from different sources into one set of clear instructions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others
- Ability to work to tight deadlines

WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years’ experience in technical writing, technical translation, business, or other work in software development
