About the Role:
As a Retail Accounting Manager, you'll be an individual contributor navigating the exciting intersection of international accounting standards and local tax regulations while driving process improvements that impact Amazon's global operations. Your technical expertise and innovative mindset will be key in maintaining our high standards of financial integrity across multiple frameworks.

Key job responsibilities
- End-to-end process ownership to support finance and business partners
- Support various aspects of our accounting and reporting processes
- Lead reconciliation processes for retail accounts, including VAT and indirect taxes
- Develop compelling technical position papers that address complex multi-GAAP scenarios
- Drive automation initiatives to revolutionize our retail accounting reporting processes
- Partner with global teams to optimize accounting workflows and tackle complex challenges

- Start your morning collaborating with global team members on technical accounting challenges
- Deep dive into complex multi-GAAP transactions to ensure accurate treatment
- Partner with technology teams to enhance reporting automation
- Guide cross-functional projects that streamline accounting processes
- Mentor colleagues on technical accounting matters
- Engage in continuous learning about evolving accounting standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 9+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- 6+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience
- 6+ years of Fortune 500 operational accounting experience
- 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
- 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
- MBA, or CPA
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making
- Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients
