Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Hardware Engineering will serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for driving the design, development, and validation of advanced electronic systems that power Nextracker's solar platform.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining deep technical expertise in power and control electronics, communication interfaces, high-speed circuit design, and battery systems with the ability to manage and mentor a high-performing electrical engineering team.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing strategic direction with direct design involvement, prototype testing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute directly to the design, development, and testing of advanced electrical hardware for solar tracker and energy management products.
- Manage and mentor a small team of electrical and mechanical engineers, fostering technical excellence, innovation, and professional growth.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, including schematic design, simulation, PCB layout review, and prototype validation.
- Oversee subsystem design for power conversion, control, communications, and high-speed circuitry.
- Guide development of battery-related electronics, including battery management system (BMS) integration and protection circuits.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust and scalable designs.
- Drive hardware validation, compliance testing, and certification (UL, IEC, EMC).
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and ensure smooth transition to high-volume manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electronic hardware design and product development, with strong knowledge of power electronics, communications, and high-speed design.
- Minimum 5 years in an engineering management or technical leadership role, with proven ability to lead and mentor engineers.
- Hands-on experience with analog/digital circuit design, PCB design, and hardware development.
- Strong understanding of communication interfaces (CAN, RS-485, Modbus, Ethernet, wireless).
- Proficiency with battery systems and BMS concepts.
- Proficiency with EMI/EMC design practices and regulatory certification (UL, IEC, CE).
- Experience supporting high-volume product manufacturing and design-for-reliability principles.
- Proficiency with embedded systems hardware and close firmware collaboration.
- Ability to perform circuit simulation, signal integrity analysis, and thermal design review.
- Proven record of delivering robust designs from concept to mass production.
- Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
